Trends in image deletion support in South Korea

Women’s Human Rights Institute of Korea

The Women’s Human Rights Institute of Korea (WHRIK) is a Public Institution under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for the prevention and intervention of gender-based violence and for the protection and support of victims.

WHRIK’s Advocacy Center for Online Sexual Abuse Victims provides support services to those who were victimized by digital sex crimes. The services include counseling, deletion of non-consensually distributed images, monitoring of (re)distribution of non-consensual images, and referral to law enforcement, legal, and medical support services.

WHRIK’s report, “An analysis of changing trends in image deletion support for victims of digital sexual violence and suggestions for improvement,” addresses services provided to victims of various types of online sexual abuse, including child sexual exploitation, from 2018 through 2022.
